Tuesday, November 2, is Election Day! Due to the pandemic and the continued rise in the Delta variant, every voter is again eligible to vote by Absentee Ballot. COVID-19 is a valid reason for using an Absentee Ballot in 2021.
To receive your absentee ballot please complete and sign an application and return it to the Ledyard Town Clerk.

Pursuant to Public Act No. 21-2, June 2021 Special Session, all voters are eligible to vote by absentee ballot for any Primary, Election or Referendum held before November 3, 2021 due to COVID-19. You may use an absentee ballot application only if you will be unable to appear at your polling place on the day of the primary, election or referendum for one of the following reasons: COVID-19, your active service in the U.S. armed forces, your absence from Ledyard during all the hours of voting, your illness, your physical disability, your religion forbids secular (non-religious) activity on November 2, or your required performance of duties as a primary, referendum, or election official at a polling place other than your own during all the hours on that day. There are civil and criminal penalties for falsely voting by absentee ballot.
STEP 2: VOTE
Your Absentee Ballot will be mailed to you. When you get the Ballot, fill it out and return it.
The ballot comes with two envelopes: the inner envelope and the outer envelope.

- Mark your ballot using a black pen.
- Place the marked ballot into the INNER envelope. SIGN, DATE, and SEAL the inner envelope.
- Place the inner envelope into the OUTER envelope (the mailing envelope), being sure that it’s addressed to you Town Clerk. Seal the outer envelope.
- You may deliver a completed ballot to the Drop Box located outside your Town or City Hall. You may mail in your completed ballot, but please use the drop box if you can.
- ONE Ballot per envelope
- SIGN, DATE, AND SEAL the inner envelope
- Make sure it ARRIVES at your Town Clerk by Election Day
Make sure of the following to ensure your ballot is counted:
- Put only one ballot per envelope
- Make sure to sign and seal the inner envelope, and put your ballot in that envelope
- Mark your ballot carefully – completely fill in the bubble next to your candidate’s name, and don’t make any extraneous marks or notes on the ballot
- Keep your eye on the calendar and get that ballot in on time!
